AVGS Research Center
We are located inside the Western Hotel Museum in rooms provided by the City of Lancaster. Stop by and see us and check out the museum while you're there. It's the oldest building in Lancaster that is still standing and there are lots of interesting historical artifacts. Click here for directions.
Antelope Valley Genealogical Society, Inc. (AVGS) was organized in 1976.
Our purpose is to encourage an interest in genealogy, preserve genealogical materials, and assist researchers with their research techniques. AVGS is a non-profit organization. Donations are always welcome - cash, library materials, genealogy books and histories, or your time.
We would like to thank our sponsors, who support AVGS by advertising in our directory. Please see the Sponsors page.
AVGS has its own Genealogy Research Center housing a growing library collection of over 1,800 books, periodicals, and CD-ROMs. The library also offers computers with a high-speed Internet connection and free access to Ancestry.com. We welcome everyone and will help them with their research. We also offer genealogy workshops periodically.
